Biography

Carolyne M. Acen(Afroetry) is a Ugandan poet, spoken word poet, activist and the founder of Echo Minds Poets, an all-female performance poetry collective that spotlights the African woman’s story. 

She is the author of Dry parched land and Married to society.

She was shortlisted for the Haiku Africa prize in 2017. She was nominated for the Janzi Awards under the outstanding spoken word category (2021), and The women in talent award ( HerWit Awards 2023)

Her work has appeared in Amnesty International activism podcast, Atlas of transitions biennial festival in Italy, bodies, unprotected festival in Frankfurt, Writers Space Africa and Afro-women poetry project.
