Biography

Eva Rún Snorradóttir is an Icelandic writer, dramatist and poet.

In her poetry, she concerns herself with topics such as heteronormativity and general everyday performativity in the lives of girls and women, as well as lesbian motherhood, female friendships and sexuality. Snorradóttir's work is relatable for her peers because of the accessible and witty tone of her poems. She is an active performance poet and her work has been described as ‘avant-garde social postmodernist’.

With her poetry collection Seed that Impregnates the Darkness (2018) she won the Maístjarnan Award. Additionally, she has been featured in an anthology of young Icelandic poets. Due to a lack of boundaries between genres in Iceland’s artistic landscape, Snorradóttir, as well as many as her contemporaries, is a multidisciplinary artist who also writes novels and works in theater and performance art. Her fourth book Homo Romantic was published in 2021 and her forthcoming book about mommy issues will be published in the fall of 2024. She is a member of The Extended Life Performance group Kviss búmm bang and two art collectives. Furthermore, she wrote and directed a play about the AIDS crisis in Reykjavík of the 80s and 90s, that was produced by The Reykjavík City Theater. She regularly teaches and mentors at the Icelandic Academy of Art.
