Biography

Han Lynn is a Burmese poet and translator. After growing up in Kalaw, a picturesque town in Shan State, bordering Thailand in eastern Myanmar, he has lived in Rangoon since 2001. Dozens of his poems, translations and articles have been published in Burmese magazines.

One of the most outstanding and dedicated poets of his generation, Han Lynn’s poetry – characterized by no-frills narratives, self-scrutiny and unexpected last lines that might as well be expected first lines – effortlessly moves between the real and surreal. His poems are featured in the January 2015 issue of Eleven Eleven Journal. He has also collaborated with many Burmese poets on several projects. Han Lynn’s debut collection of poems, named kyaung taya (Hundred Cats, 2013), has turned him into a celebrated ailurophile. Most of the poems featured here are from Han Lynn’s second book, No Matter How Far Communication (2014). While not writing poems or annoying cats, Han Lynn moonlights as a guitar instructor.
