Four Dutch-language poets honored for their debut collections
C. Buddingh’ Prize 2015 shortlist

The C. Buddingh’ Prize finalists are, in alphabetical order:
Rens van der Knoop, Twee mannen spreken elkaar ongemerkt aan (Two men speak to each other unnoticed; De Bezige Bij Amsterdam)
Rens van der Knoop (1987) studies Image & Language at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. He regularly performs at literary festivals and has published writing in Tirade, Mister Motley and Tubelight. He is currently working on a music encyclopedia.
Jeroen van Rooij, Niemand had er enig idee van wat er aan de hand was (No one had any idea what was going on; De Bezige Bij Antwerpen)
Jeroen van Rooij (1979) has published in periodicals such as DW B, nY, Parmentier and deReactor. He is the author of two novels, De eerste hond in de ruimte (The first dog in the area; 2010) and Het licht (The light; 2012), which was on the longlist for the Gouden Boekenuil (The Golden Book Owl) prize.
Saskia Stehouwer, Wachtkamers (Waiting rooms; Uitgeverij Marmer)
Saskia Stehouwer (1975) studied Dutch and English. In 2012, her poem ‘Glimp’ (Glimpse) was among the top 20 poems of the Turing Poetry Competition. She has published poetry in de Revisor and Awater and has performed at the Dichters in the Prinsentuin (Poets in the Prinsentuin) and Crossing Borders festivals.
Runa Svetlikova, Deze zachte witte kamer (This soft white room; Uitgeverij Marmer)
Runa Svetlikova (1982) has published stories and poems in various literary journals and leaflets, and appears regularly on literary (and sometimes less literary) podiums. Her poetry has appeared in the top 20 of the Turing Poetry Competition on several occasions. Deze zachte witte kamer was recently awarded the Herman de Coninck Debut Prize.
This year's jury for the C. Buddingh’ Prize have selected four poets from Belgium and the Netherlands as the prize's finalists, with the winner to be announced on Thursday, 11 June, 2015, during the 46th Poetry International Festival. The Prize recognizes the best Dutch-language debut poetry collection from the previous year.
Previous winners of the C. Buddingh’ Prize include Joke van Leeuwen, Anna Enquist, Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer and Tonnus Oosterhoff, who will be a guest at this year’s Poetry International Festival. The prize’s jury comprises of Hester Knibbe, the 2015 VSB Poetry Prize winner; poet and scholar Jan Baetens; and Marije Koens, director of Perdu, an Amsterdam-based experimental poetry organization.The C.
