On 13 October, 2015, Poetry International and the Kenniscentrum Cultuureducatie Rotterdam (KCR) will recommence the spoken word poetry project Louder Than a Bomb.
732 students, coming from five schools based in Rotterdam (Wolfert van Borselen TTO, Wolfert Lyceum, Wolfert College, Einstein Lyceum and Grafisch Lyceum) will participate in poetry workshops and a screening of the 2010 documentary Louder Than a Bomb, which follows a group of Chicago-area students as they compete in the world’s largest poetry slam. While poetry is the students’ medium and material, it is also the foundation for greater cooperation, engagement and confidence.

The Louder Than a Bomb project offers ongoing workshops, presentations and poetry performances. Instructors work with their classes on reading, understanding, writing and reciting poetry – helping students prepare for a poetry slam finale to take place at the Poetry International Festival.

The film and lessons are presented in Dutch, but bilingual instruction is also possible.
