Dorothy Parker’s place in the canon

The American short story writer, critic and poet Dorothy Parker passed away in 1967. She started writing for Vanity Fair and later worked as a columnist for The New Yorker. She also pursued a brief but successful career in screenwriting.

R.S. Gwynn writes about Parker’s poetry in The New Criterion. In his article ‘Has Dottie got legs?’, he gives an insightful overview of Parker’s career as a poet as well as her personal life. Parker’s position in the literary canon is also discussed.
