World Poetry Day

March 21, 2010 In 1999, UNESCO marked the 21st of March as World Poetry Day. The day is meant to promote the reading, writing and teaching of poetry across the world. World Poetry Day was previously celebrated on 15 October, Virgil's birthday. In the United States and Canada, the month April is devoted to National Poetry Month.
