New translations of Hiromi Ito's poems to be published

Dr Jeffrey Angles, associate professor of Japanese Literature and Translation Studies at Western Michigan University, has recently won the 2009 Japan-US Friendship Commission Prize for the Translation of Japanese Literature for his translations of Japanese poet Chimako Tada's work. The award is given through Donald Keene Center of Japanese Culture at Columbia University.
Jeffrey Angles was also the translator of Hiromi Ito's poems for the PIW Japan July 2007 issue.
A collection of Hiromi Ito's poems translated by Jeffrey Angles will be published this month. Killing Kanoko: Selected Poems of Hiromi Ito is published by Action Books (Notre Dame, IN).
