In Other Words: Translation Workshop - Turkish

Translate a poem by Gonca Özmen from Turkish

This year we will be repeating our popular translation workshops with festival translators and poets. Translating poems heard at the festival enables you to explore the poetry and the poet in greater depth, discover how creative and meticulous the translation process is, and experience the fact that translating poetry is about so much more than simply finding ‘the right word’. At the workshop, discuss your own translation with the festival translator and meet the poet, who will be able to tell you more about the poem.

In this workshop you will discuss your translation of a poem by Gonca Özmen with Sytske Sötemann, who has translated the poems Özmen will read this festival.
