Sci-fi poetry: writing other realms
In this program, we step outside the boundaries of the existing world and depart for space. Poetic science fiction is not yet well known in the Netherlands, although it has been created by poets for decades. How relevant those works can still be, we will find out when we talk with the translators of Harry Martinson's famous 1956 Swedish space epic Aniara, available in Dutch for the first time this year. We also engage with poets who venture into contemporary sci-fi poetry, such as poet and novelist SholehRezazadeh. What do poetry and science fiction have to offer each other? Is creating new worlds possible in poetry, and what do they look like? You'll find out during this special discussion program with Sholeh Rezazadeh, Anke van den Bremt and Anna Rottier! Presentation: George van Hal.
