Biografie
Lisa Gorton writes poetry, essays and fiction. Born in Melbourne, she studied at the universities of Melbourne and Oxford. At Oxford, with the support of a Rhodes Scholarship, she completed a master's in Renaissance Literature and a doctorate on John Donne’s poetry and prose. After fifteen years living in different places – Ireland, England, South Africa, and, in Australia, Sydney, Lismore and Katherine – Gorton returned to Melbourne where she lives now with her partner and three children. Her awards include the Philip Hodgins Memorial Medal, the John Donne Society Award for Distinguished Publication in Donne Studies, the Victorian Premier’s Prize for Poetry, the NSW Premier’s People’s Choice Award for Fiction, and the Prime Minister’s Prize for Fiction.
