Mohamed Bachkar
Sleeping as in a cavern
I slept as in a cavernAnd when I woke up
Thanks to the sun’s erasure of darkness
I saw the seas line up,
Drink in skull glasses
My own drowning,
And like a shady shroud
Or bleeding foam
encompass me
with lips in whose blood
Buried passions
dried
(Mine is the time
That measures fields
By the lenghth of their locks, and
Seasons
By my lifetime that is all autumn!)
I slept as in a cave
And looked around with eyes like a couple of eagles
To record in devouring
The heaven I missed

SLEEPING AS IN A CAVERN
