Our Picture

He smiles at me from the photo frame;
His eyes are soft with love.
Held in his arms, I’m smiling too.
There’s no hint of the pain to come.

Now on my own, I stare at our love
Dark misery blinds my heart.
I feel blunt resentment for the girl sitting so securely,
It’s to go back, to be her,that I want.

Jealously, I watch her –
She has him forever!
While I, held by time, have to wait.
