Ticha Muzavazi

I WON’T DO IT AGAIN

In this fast-paced, highly dramatic poem, the poet looks back at an unforgettable incident that happened during his high-school days.

As he says, he and his team of friends were in the habit of abusing girls. One day, his team of four boys found two innocent girls on their own in a classroom. The boys pounced on the girls, molesting them. The girls tried to resist, without any success. Eventually the victims screamed.

What happened thereafter is not stated. All the reader has to do is make assumptions. All the poet does is state emphatically that: “I won’t do it again; I won’t repeat these things that made teacher Muzavazi beat us so hard.”
