Magazines

akzente
c/o Carl Hanser Verlag, Postfach 860420, 81631 München
zeller@hanser.de | www.hanser.de/literatur/akzente
Probably the most popular German literary journal. Even though it is a bit heavy-going and almost devoted to the literary status quo nevertheless it is quite good in its outlay and pleasant to read.

bella triste
c/o Paul Brodowsky, Einumerstr. 63, 31135 Hildesheim
bella-triste@gmx.de
„bella triste“ publishes a remarkably good choice of very young literature; its last issue featured almost no author older than 30 years.

Das Gedicht
Buchenweg 3b, 82234 München
info@aglv.de | www.dasgedicht.de
This entirely on poetry focussed journal made headlines in 1999 by publishing a ranking of the 100 best national resp. international poets. Its editor, Anton G. Leitner, also publishes a successful series with subjects like “Geile Gedichte”(“Lusty / Lecherous Poems”).

die horen
im Wirtschaftsverlag NW, Postfach 101100, 27511 Bremerhaven
Red: c/o Johann P. Tammen, Wursterstr. 380, 27580 Bremerhaven
www.nw-verlag.de
“die horen” is one of the best theme journals in the German speaking sphere. Next to literary texts they publish analyses, documentations and interviews – all on a very high intellectual level.

edit
c/o Haus des Buches, Gerichtsweg 28, 04103 Leipzig
mail@editonline.de | www.editonline.de
There is no doubt that „Edit“ is the „Discovery-Journal“ in the German-speaking area. Closely connected to the „Literaturinstitut Leipzig“ it often features lesser known yet excellent authors. Each issue contains translations of distinguished foreign poetry.

Intendenzen
intendenzen@gmx.de | www.intendenzen.de
An almost avantgardistic journal which publishes poetry and prose as well as the underlying poetologies.

lauter niemand
Paul-Robeson-str. 41, 10439 Berlin
redaktion@lauter-niemand.de | www.lauter-niemand.de
Irregularly published journal with an incredible circulation of 12.000 copies per issue. Thus maybe not the most known or best literature journal in Germany but certainly its biggest. Moreover, the editors run a noteworthy webpage.

Lose Blätter
c/o Birger Dölling, Ebelingstr. 1, 10249 Berlin
birger.doelling@lose-blaetter.de | www.lose-blaetter.de
Small journal featuring authors of more or less big names such as Grünbein, Braun, Mayröcker. They also publish newcomers.

macondo
c/o Verlag im Laerfeld, Laerfeldstr. 35, 44803 Bochum
www.txt.de/macondo
„macondo“ publishes issues to subjects like „blood“ and „water“; mainly less known authors; it impresses by a good (photo)graphical outlay.

manuskripte
Sackstr. 17 , A-8010 Graz
manuskripte.lz@aon.at | www.manuskripte.at
Once the „court journal“ of the „Wiener Gruppe“ (Viennese Group) „manuskripte“ has developed to a distinguished yet somewhat conservative journal.

ndl
Neue Promenade 6, 10178 Berlin
ndl@aufbau-verlag.de |
www.aufbau-verlag.de
Among the big journals „ndl“ certainly features the largest amount of new discoveries and - due to its editor Jürgen Engler – an alert and curious look at the up- and- coming literary generation.

Schreibheft
c/o Rigodon-Verlag, Nieberdingstr. 18, 45147 Essen
schreibheft@netcologne.de  | www.schreibheft.de
An established journal that managed to stay unconventional. Regularly featuring translations of foreign language authors.

Sinn und Form
Tucholskystr. 2, 10117 Berlin
sinnform@adk.de | www.sinn-und-form.de
Once the flagship of German literature this journal has had better times and better theoretical texts. An occasional young poets sits in its lifeboat.

Sirene
c/o Costas Gianacacos & Bülent Tulay, Agnesstr. 56a, 80798 München
griechisches-haus@t-online.de
“Sirene” publishes predominantly translations of foreign language authors next to interesting German voices.

Wandler
c/o Dirk Schröder, Postfach 102343, 78423 Konstanz
wandler@carpe.com | www.carpe.com/wandler
Good journal, currently becoming more courageous; featured recently a special issue about the city of Karlsruhe and its authors.

Wespennest
Rembrandtstr. 31/4, A-1020 Wien
office@wespennest.at | www.wespennest.at
„Wespennest“ publishes issues to particular subjects, countries and authors, e.g. to such interesting personalities as the „mad“ Austrian artist and author Adolf Wölfi.

Zwischen den Zeilen
c/o Urs Engeler, Dorfstr.33, CH-4057 Basel
info@engeler.de | www.engeler.de
“Zwischen den Zeilen” (“Inbetween the lines”) publishes a selected choice of poets with the appropriate poetologies, both of high quality. By now the journal also presents more and more poems of “outsider-factions” such as e.g. the “Neobarocks”.
