Hans Verhagen wins the PC Hooft Prize

Last week, the PC Hooft Prize for Literature for 2009 was awarded to 69-year-old Dutch poet Hans Verhagen, who is featured on the PIW site. According to the jury report, he received the honour for his humour and daring. The PC Hooft Prize, the most prestigious prize awarded to Dutch literature, is named after a Dutch poet from the Golden Age. The prize will be presented to Verhagen in May.
