Ferro Xavier da Silva

Bruno Ferro Xavier da Silva - from Rotterdam - is a bassist, composer, improviser and visual artist (KAMP HORST, Antistrot). Jamming and improvising run like a black thread through all his artistic activities, music ánd art. 'I think everyone does it: as soon as you are born you start improvising.'By now the bass guitar seems to have no more limitations or secrets for him. He plays rhythmically as well as melodically and helped by an impressive battery of effects he gets the most bizarre sounds out of his instrument.

Bruno opens the festival Saturday with a concert on the Foyer stage in LantarenVenster, together with saxophonist Dick Ronteltap. He will also accompany readings by poets with improvisations.
